Tire Tread Separation Defect Causes California Minivan Rollover Accident

Three people were personally injured in a motor vehicle defect accident due to a tire tread separation defect. The passengers where injured in the rollover accident after a minivan carrying a driver and four farm workers in Taft, California, overturned and crashed the afternoon of May 27, 2009, the Taft Midway Driller reports. California Highway Patrol officials said the accident occurred when the tread separated from the left rear tire of the minivan causing the van to go off onto the right shoulder. The driver then overcorrected and the van went across the roadway and overturned landing on its roof at the base of an embankment. The three injured men were taken to area hospitals. One passenger was uninjured. However, the driver fled the scene after the California car accident. He is being sought on felony hit-and-run charges.

It is indeed fortunate that no one suffered fatal personal injuries in this minivan rollover accident. I wish the three injured victims the very best for a quick and complete recovery. I also hope the driver is apprehended not only because he committed a crime by leaving the scene of the car crash, but his testimony can help investigators determine the facts of the case.

This is a classic case of tire failure and tire tread separation, which caused the van to veer out of control and roll over. Tire failures and tire blowouts are quite common when tires wear out during normal use. Dealing with tire defect cases, we're seeing more and more instances of tire failure due to a manufacturing or design defect long before the tread on the tire has worn out. If a tire tread separation is proved to be the result of a manufacturing or design defect, then the injured parties would have a claim against the tire manufacturer for compensation for injuries and damages.

The injured victims in this case may have a case against the manufacturer of the defective tire. Reputed California product defect attorneys who have significant experience successfully handling tire defect cases and standing up against big auto manufacturers can help these victims get justice and fair compensation. In many cases where catastrophic injuries or fatalities have occurred as a result of tire tread separation, there is no compensation adequate or effective enough to overcome the pain of the injured victims and their families. However, holding wrongdoers and irresponsible product manufacturers accountable for their negligence, encourages them to make safer products -- the way they should have made them in the first place.
