Product Defect Case Against The Coleman Company Goes to Trial
The California personal injury attorneys of BISNAR | CHASE will be fighting for the rights of a young victim, Trevor Dennis, who was severely injured and scarred after a defective Coleman propane heater caused his family's camping trailer to catch fire. This important case will go to trial Monday, November 2, 2009 in Orange County Superior Court's Department C16 – Judge William Monroe's courtroom. Trevor and his mother, Alysha Reed, have been waiting for their day in court for more than three years now.
Defective Heater Caused Serious Burn Injuries
The catastrophic accident occurred on December 30, 2005 causing the then 7-year-old Trevor to suffer serious burn injuries. The little boy was also scarred emotionally. To this day, he requires constant care and attention. BISNAR | CHASE filed this lawsuit on behalf of Trevor and Reed against Coleman Company, which we believe knowingly manufactured and sold a defective propane heater, the ProCat (TM) PerfecTemp(TM) (Model 5053). We believe that this manufacturer used defective design, substandard critical parts from China, poor assembly and inadequate quality control. We believe that Coleman's negligence led to Trevor's major injuries.
What is even more disturbing is that The Coleman Company was well aware that this particular model of propane heaters was dangerous and defective. In fact, the company had gotten complaints, warranty claims, incident reports and even faced lawsuits relating to these faulty propane heaters. Despite this, the company misled unsuspecting consumers by advertising that this propane heater was safe indoors when in fact, it was not. The company has denied our client's claims for compensation.
Product Defect Case Goes to Trial
There are many serious issues in this case. It's obvious to us, that Coleman put profits ahead of its consumers by continuing to sell a defective product, which it knew was dangerous and could cause serious personal injury and even death. As a result of their negligence and callous disregard for the safety of their consumers, our client, a young child, has undergone pain, suffering and emotional distress when he should be out in the playground with other kids, enjoying his childhood. His family has faced and continues to face significant medical expenses. We're ready to take this fight for our client's rights to the next level. We will strive to ensure not only that Trevor gets fair compensation for his injuries and medical expenses, but also that these dangerous and defective products are taken off the market so other innocent consumers are not injured or killed.
