Nissan Recalls Sentra Sedans for Defective Brakes

Nissan North America is issuing a vehicle defect recall for more than 10,500 model year 2009 Sentra sedans that come equipped with Bosch master cylinders because of the risk of brake fluid leaking from the master cylinders. According to a news report in Automotive Fleet, the amount of brake fluid that is in the master cylinder reservoir could decrease to below the minimum level causing the system warning indicator to light up. The brakes at this point will not function properly.

Federal Agency Warns Consumers about Brake Problems

National Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA) officials caution that if drivers continue to operate their vehicles and ignore the warning light, one of the brake circuits may fail increasing stopping distances and increasing the risk of a car accident. When the recall begins this month, Nissan dealers will inspect and replace the master cylinder brake booster assembly free of charge. Consumers who own the vehicles involved with this auto product recall may call Nissan at 1-800-647-7261 for more information.

Brake defects can lead to serious injuries and even deaths in the event of a car accident. As drivers, we count on our brakes to help us stop the vehicle when required. When a vehicle's brakes fail, it would be extremely difficult even for an experienced or seasoned driver, to take back control of the vehicle and avoid a collision. It would most likely result in a car accident and if it happens at high speeds it could even result in catastrophic injuries or fatalities.

Auto Products Liability Issues

If a car accident is caused as a result of defective brakes or other auto product defects that could lead to sudden brake failure, the auto maker or the manufacturer of the defective product could be held liable for the accident, injuries or fatalities.
