Man Killed in San Bernardino Rollover Car Accident

Edward Tutundjian, 24, was killed in a San Bernardino car accident after he lost control of his car and crashed. According to a news report in the San Bernardino Sun, Tutundjian was driving a 2008 BMW on the 15 Freeway when he veered into the dirt median and then overcorrected the steering wheel to get back on the road. He lost control of the car. The BMW rolled over several times. Tutundjian was ejected from the vehicle. This fatal rollover accident occurred the afternoon of December 17, 2009 on the northbound 15 Freeway near Cady Wash.

I offer my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Edward Tutundjian for their tragic and sudden loss. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved this young man. They will be in my prayers.

Car Accident Statistics

There were 308 fatalities and 9,920 injuries involving car accidents in San Bernardino County, according to California Highway Patrol's 2007 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS). The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that at least 10,000 people die every year in the United States as a result of rollover accidents. That is approximately one-fourth of all traffic accident fatalities in the United States.

What Caused this Rollover Accident?

Rollover accidents can be devastating because they often cause catastrophic injuries or death. Based on this news report, it is not quite clear what caused Tutundjian to lose control of his BMW. The article does not mention alcohol or fatigue as factors. Was there a vehicle defect or a malfunction in his vehicle? Was there debris on the roadway or a dangerous condition? Was another vehicle involved?

The news report also mentions that Tutundjian was ejected from the vehicle as it rolled over. This makes me wonder whether he was buckled up at the time of the crash. If he was, why was he ejected from the vehicle? Were his fatal injuries the result of a defective seat belt or a faulty seat restraint system? There are many unanswered questions here and Tutundjian's family deserves to know what had exactly occurred.

Auto Products Liability Issues

The family would be well-advised to consult a reputed California personal injury lawyer who has an excellent track record handling auto product defect cases. The crashed BMW should also be preserved so it can be carefully examined by an expert for product defects, malfunctions and other evidence. HARVARD • A 24-year-old North Hollywood man was killed when he was ejected from his car on Interstate 15 Thursday afternoon.

Edward Tutundjian was driving northbound on Interstate 15, 30 miles east of Barstow, when he lost control of his car as he attempted to pass traffic in the fast lane, according to a California Highway Patrol report. The car cut across all lanes of traffic and into the desert where it rolled several times. Tutundjian was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown approximately 75 feet from the car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses said the car was weaving through traffic and traveling more than 100 mph, according to the CHP report.

Tutundjian’s passenger, a 25-year-old Los Angeles man, also wasn’t wearing a seat belt, and he received major injuries in the accident. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

The CHP is investigating the traffic collision.

My dear dear friend. We will all miss you. This is unreal! We love you
