According to Imperialbeachpatch.com, A man driving his Suzuki died Wednesday morning when he reversed his car across four lanes of traffic and into the path of a cement truck, which overturned and dumped cement on the road. The Suzuki driver was pronounced dead at the scene and his identity is being held until the family can be notified.

Los Angeles Food Company Recalls Deli Meats for Listeria Contamination

A Los Angeles area food company has recalled about 15,900 pounds of deli meats over food poisoning concerns. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the food recall, which includes boxes of Togo’s pastrami, was triggered due to concerns about possible listeria contamination. The products, made by Rose & Shore Meat Company of Vernon, were not sold directly to retail establishments, but to distributors in California, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon and Washington. Some brands of deli meats recalled include Olympic Gold Beef Pastrami, Rose & Shore N.Y. Style Pastrami, Cooked Angus Roast Beef, and Togo’s Pastrami. So far, no illnesses have been reported or linked to this food recall.

Pedestrian Killed in Hit-And-Run Car Accident in Riverside

Jesus Alvarez Moreno, 72, was killed in a Riverside car accident when a car struck him as he crossed the street the night of May 9, 2011. According to a news report in The Press Enterprise, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred on Avenue 52 west of Sunset Drive in Coachella. Moreno was crossing the road when a sedan driven by Jose Ramiro Beltran, 62, hit him. Moreno died from his injuries that same night in a Palm Springs hospital. Beltran left the scene of the crash but was later arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter.

Man Killed in Los Angeles Car Accident

A man who was killed in a car accident in Los Angeles the morning of May 8, 2011 has been identified as 35-year-old Marasho Kri Mazique. City News Service reports that the fatal car accident happened in Los Angeles at the intersection of Manchester Avenue and Figueroa Street when a driver made a left turn in front of Mazique’s vehicle. Mazique sustained fatal injuries while his passenger was critically injured. The other driver was also hospitalized with complaints of pain. Authorities are looking into what caused this fatal car accident.

James Hudson, 61, was killed in a San Francisco car accident, which officials say, involved a drunk driver. According to a report in The San Jose Mercury News, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred in San Francisco the morning of May 6, 2011. Officials say Jose Jimenez, 23, fatally struck Hudson and then crashed into four vehicles and a concrete planter. Hudson was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash and Jimenez was hospitalized for minor injuries. Authorities have charged Jimenez on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence. It also appears that Jimenez left the scene of the accident and was arrested shortly afterward.

The motorcyclist lost control and crashed after his vehicle hit the lumber pieces. The victim of this roadway debris accident suffered multiple injuries that were described as moderate. Caltrans Worker Killed in San Diego Trolley Accident

A 64-year-old Caltrans worker sustained fatal injuries on the job after he was struck and killed by a trolley. According to a news report in The San Diego Union-Tribune, the fatal trolley accident occurred the afternoon of May 4, 2011 in National City near the 24th Street stop. The worker was on the tracks when a southbound train hit him. The trolley driver apparently told officials that he saw the man on the tracks and that the worker tried to get out of the way, but couldn’t. The victim sustained critical head injuries and was transported to a hospital where he died. An investigation is ongoing.

For unknown reasons, the motorcycle hit a silver BMW and the motorcycle rider was thrown onto the roadway. The victim was transported to a regional trauma center where he died from his injuries.
