Rollover Accident Proves Fatal for Two Women

Claudia Quezada, 37, and Blanca Valenzuela, 20, were killed in a San Bernardino car accident after a rear tire blew causing their SUV to roll over. According to a news report in the San Bernardino County Sun, the fatal rollover accident occurred the morning of June 29, 2011 on the 15 Freeway, south of Halloran Springs Road, in Baker.

California Highway Patrol officials say Quezada was driving a 2005 Dodge Durango south on the freeway when one of its back tires blew. The driver veered off the roadway and the vehicle overturned several times. Both Quezada and Valenzuela died at the scene. Other passengers in the vehicle were transported to area hospitals for treatment of unknown injuries.

Toyota Motor Corporation issued an auto defect recall for about 45,500 Highlander Hybrid vehicles and 36,700 Lexus RX 400h vehicles because of issues related to the intelligent power module. According to a City News Service report, the module located inside the hybrid system inverter contains a control board with transistors.

Five Injured in Orange County Rollover Accident

Five women were injured in an Orange County car accident after two vehicle collided on the 91 Freeway, the morning of June 24, 2011. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injury collision occurred on the westbound 91 at the 241 interchange in Yorba Linda. The crash involved a Chevrolet Suburban SUV and a Dodge Magnum. The Suburban rolled over ejecting one passenger. All of the injured victims were occupants of the Suburban. The injured victims were transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Dropside Crib Ban Goes Into Effect

Since 2000, over 30 toddler deaths have been caused by these death traps and finally the ban on dropside cribs goes into effect today, June 28, 2011. It’s a long time coming, but at least the day is finally here where can be rid of these defective cribs where our precious children sleep.

The cribs have been recalled in the millions since 2007 but the Commissioners at the Consumer Product Safety Commission were at odds over an extension for retailers to sell off what some estimate to be over $30 million in non-regulation cribs. The ridiculousness of that sentence not withstanding, the crib ban is here!

Fresno Car Accident Proves Fatal

One man was killed and another was seriously injured in a Fresno car accident after they were struck by an out-of-control vehicle. According to a KMPH news report, two men got out of their truck on Highway 99, the evening of June 23, 2011, to check on a blown out tire. As they were looking at it, a car that was driving near the scene went out of control, hit another car and then struck the two men. One of the victims was killed and the other sustained major injuries. Officials are looking into what caused the driver to lose control of his vehicle.

Chrysler Recalls Vehicles for Steering Defects

Chrysler Group LLC announced an auto defect recall for about 12,000 recently manufactured vehicles due to a problem involving the steering column. According to a Detroit News report, the recall covers 12 different brands — the Dodge Journey, Jeep Wrangler, Chrysler 200, 200 convertible, Dodge Avenger, Dodge Nitro, Jeep Liberty, Dodge Caliber, Jeep Compass, Jeep Patriot, Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country. All these recalled vehicles were manufactured between mid-April and mid-May and have a potentially faulty part built at Chrysler’s Toledo, Ohio plant.

Irvine Car Accident Proves Fatal

Manal Darwiche, 21, was killed in an Irvine car accident the early morning of June 22, 2011. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal car crash occurred near Sunnyhill and Shady Canyon in Irvine. It is not clear what caused the vehicle to crash into a tree. This devastating car accident resulted in fatal injuries for the driver, Darwiche, and non-life-threatening injuries to the female passenger who has not yet been identified. Police say this crash did not involve a second vehicle, but the crash remains under investigation.

Two Injured in San Diego Fair Ride Accident

A girl and a ride operator apparently sustained serious injuries when a ride at the San Diego County Fair malfunctioned. According to a 10News report, the accident occurred the afternoon of June 21, 2011. A teen who was on the ride and a man who was operating the ride were both injured. The girl was airlifted to a local hospital. Officials say the accident occurred on the Techno Power Ride. Passengers were beginning to get off the ride after it stopped, when it suddenly began to start up again.

Latanya Denise George, 29, was killed in a San Bernardino car accident after she lost control of her SUV, which rolled over. According to a news report in The San Bernardino County Sun, the fatal injury accident occurred on West Rialto Avenue in San Bernardino, the night of June 18, 2011. George was driving a 1990 Nissan Pathfinder SUV when the car veered out of control, went through a red light, before rolling several times.

Man Killed in Riverside Motorcycle Accident

Baltazar Arroyos, 50, of Lake Elsinore, was killed in a motorcycle accident in Riverside County. According to a news report in The Press-Enterprise, the fatal motorcycle accident occurred the night of June 17, 2011. Arroyos was riding a motorcycle on Railroad Canyon, near Church Street, in Lake Elsinore when his motorcycle left the roadway. He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. Officials are investigating the cause of the crash.
