A man who was killed in a San Bernardino car accident the morning of March 20, 2010 on the 15 Freeway has been identified as 25-year-old Moises Avila Gonzalez. The San Bernardino Sun reports that Gonzalez was a passenger in a Chevy Trailblazer SUV whose driver lost control and crashed in the northbound lanes of the freeway. The SUV rolled over. Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene. The California Highway Patrol is investigating this fatal crash.

My heart goes out to everybody who knew and loved Moises Avila Gonzalez for their devastating loss. Please keep them in your prayers.

Car Accident Cases

It is not clear from this report how or why this fatal rollover accident occurred. We do not know a lot of information such as who was driving the vehicle, if there was an auto product defect in the Chevy Trailblazer SUV or if there was a dangerous condition on the roadway that may have caused the driver to lose control. We also do not know if another vehicle or driver was involved or at what speed the SUV was traveling at the time of the crash. I trust an official investigation will yield more answers.

Who is Liable?

If this accident was caused by defective vehicle design or a vehicle defect, the auto maker can be held liable. It would also be important to look into whether there were any seatbelt defects or other issues that caused or contributed to Gonzalez’s fatal injuries. If the accident was the driver’s fault, then, he or she could be held liable for the crash and resulting injuries.

In such cases, families of deceased car accident victims would be well-advised to get in touch with a reputed California personal injury lawyer who has a successful track record with auto product liability cases. The crashed vehicle must also be preserved in tact so it can be examined by an expert for product defects, malfunctions and other evidence.
