One Killed, Two Injured in Los Angeles Car Accident
Oct 31
Jonathan Guzman Vaca, 22, of Diamond Bar was killed in a Los Angeles car accident after his 2003 Nissan 350Z was struck by two big rigs. According to a news report in The San Gabriel Valley Tribune, the fatal truck accident occurred at Azusa Avenue on the 60 Freeway in Industry, the morning of October 29, 2011.
California Highway Patrol officials say that Vaca’s Nissan 350Z veered out of control, and struck two big rigs and the freeway’s center divider. A 2000 Nissan Frontier SUV driven by a 33-year-old Pomona man then struck one of the big rigs. Vaca was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver of the Frontier and a 27-year-old truck driver from Anaheim sustained major injuries. A 64-year-old truck driver from Fontana suffered minor injuries. Investigators are trying to determine what caused Vaca to lose control of the vehicle.
My heart goes out to the friends and family of Jonathan Guzman Vaca following this tragic accident. My thoughts and prayers are also with the injured victims of this horrific truck accident. I wish them the best for a complete and speedy recovery.
Car Accident Statistics
According to California Highway Patrol’s 2009 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), car accidents in Industry claimed the lives of two people and caused 229 injuries. During that same year, there were 554 fatalities and 50,817 injuries reported due to car accidents in Los Angeles County.
What Caused This Fatal Collision?
Based on this news report, the accident occurred when Vaca lost control of his Nissan. There are a number of questions that remain at the moment. What caused the vehicle to veer out of control? Was speed or driver negligence a contributing factor in the accident? Was this accident the result of an auto defect or mechanical malfunction? Did a dangerous roadway condition lead to the driver losing control of his vehicle? I trust officials are looking into these and other factors in order to determine exactly what occurred here and why.
Liability Issues
In such cases, it would be in the best interests of the family of the deceased victim to preserve the vehicle in its current crashed state, unaltered, so an expert can thoroughly examine it for product defects, malfunctions, design flaws, and other evidence. Victims or their families would be well advised to contact an experienced Los Angeles personal injury lawyer, who will stay on top of the official investigation and ensure that their legal rights and best interests are preserved. The best personal injury law firms will always offer a free consultation and comprehensive case evaluation to car accident victims and their families.
