Ten people were injured in a five-vehicle Riverside car accident that police believe was caused by a teen driver who let her car drift into oncoming traffic. According to a news report in The Press-Enterprise, the injury car accident occurred on Domenigoni Parkway near Hemet the night of December 8, 2010.
Officials say that for unknown reasons, the 17-year-old female driver let her 2002 Honda Civic drift into a dirt median. The Honda veered out of control entering opposing traffic lanes, before crashing into four other vehicles. Ten people sustained injuries including a bruised lung, broken bones and head injuries. Officials do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a part in this car accident.
My thoughts and prayers are with everyone injured in this horrific car accident. I wish them all a complete and speedy recovery from their injuries.

It is unclear at this time what may have caused the young driver to lose control of her vehicle. An investigation should determine if a dangerous roadway or auto defect led to the accident. If the accident here was the result of driver error or negligence, she can be held liable for the injuries and damages caused.
According to California Vehicle Code Section 21651 (a): “Whenever a highway has been divided into two or more roadways by means of intermittent barriers or by means of a dividing section of not less than two feet in width, either unpaved or delineated by curbs, double-parallel lines, or other markings on the roadway, it is unlawful…to drive any vehicle over, upon, or across the dividing section.”
