Chrysler 200 Vehicles Investigated for Engine Stalling Issues

Federal safety regulators are looking into potential vehicle defect relating to engine stalling in about 87,000 Chrysler 200 midsize sedans. According to an Associated Press news report, the probe includes cars from the 2011 model year that have 3.6-liter V-6 engines. Officials with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) state that they have received 15 complaints of the engines stalling without warning.

Investigators are looking into how often the problem occurs. So far, NHTSA has not received reports of crashes or injuries as a result of this problem. It is possible that this investigation will lead to a recall. Owners who suspect problems with their vehicles should take them to dealers for testing, Chrysler officials say.

Aog -Study Confirms Higher Failure Rates for DePuy, Other Metal-on-Metal Implants

A new study confirms that metal-on-metal hip implants like the ASR Resurfacing devices manufacture by DePuy have much higher failure rates, sparking more calls by DePuy hip implant lawyers for a ban on these devices.

The study, which has been published in The Lancet medical Journal, analyzed data from the National Joint Registry of England and Wales.  The data included more than 400,000 hip replacements, including 31,171 all-metal hip implants.

The researchers say there is no confusion in the findings.  The all metal implants simply have a much failure rate compared to other devices. More

Depuy Side Effects Overview

Depuy is one manufacturer of ASR hip replacements.  ASR stands for “articular surface replacement” and is a feature of Depuy hip replacement devices.  Depuy has recalled many of these devices due to higher-than-average failure rates and dangerous side effects.

Side effects from Depuy hip replacement devices include inflammation, infection, and severe pain.  Furthermore, many people who have had a Depuy hip replacement end up having to have a second surgery, which further complicates health issues and causes more pain and suffering.

Inflammation from a Depuy hip replacement surgery can occur because of an autoimmune response caused by the materials used in the hip replacement device.  Some patients cannot tolerate the plastics and metals used in the hip replacement, and have varying degrees of continuous inflammation that can lead to severe problems with the rest of the body.  Autoimmune responses may trigger other allergic reactions throughout the body, even if the affected areas have little or nothing to do with the initial hip replacement.

Infections from Depuy hip replacements have been reported.  Some of these infections may be due to faulty surgical procedures; others seem to develop long after surgery has been concluded.  Infections in the hip area can easily spread through the bloodstream to other parts of the body and lead to serious health problems.  It is theoretically possible that an infection caused by a hip replacement device could permanently compromise the health of a patient with, for example, weak heart valves, or even lead to death. Nissan and Infiniti Vehicles Recalled for Possible Oil Leaks

Nissan North America has issued an auto defect recall for nearly 15,000 vehicles for an issue that may cause a loss of engine oil and increase the risk of a crash. According to Consumer Reports, the recall involves 2011 Infiniti FX SUVs, 2012 Infiniti M sedans, 2012 Nissan Frontier pickup trucks, 2011-2012 Nissan Pathfinder SUVs, 2011-2012 Nissan Xterra SUVs, and 2012 Nissan NV commercial vans.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration states that the vehicles being recalled use sub-standard bolts to connect the engine oil cooler to the oil filter. The bolts, officials say, were not manufactured to the specified strength. So, they could break at the filter attachment point and cause an oil leak. Loss of oil could cause the engine to seize and increase the risk of a car accident. When the recall begins in January, Nissan will notify vehicle owners who can bring in their cars to a dealership. The defective bolts will be replaced at no cost to consumers.

Dangerous Prempro Health Problems Continue to Surface

Not long ago, victims claiming to experience Prempro health problems were being ignored. No one wanted to believe that a pharmaceutical company distributing countless medications designed to help people were actually responsible for life-threatening conditions. Unfortunately, the allegations are being substantiated with cold, hard facts, and we are starting to see that there were countless people whose lives have been forever altered by the negligence of this company’s defective product. We as a society hope that those providing us with our every-day products are keeping us in mind, but year after year we come to find another company who has placed profit over safety. As more and more Prempro lawsuits begin to develop, consumers are starting to demand a higher degree of control and safety in protecting them from future product defects.

Prempro, a Hormone replacement therapy (HRT), uses progestins and hormones to increase hormone levels in women during menopause. It was designed to provide relief from symptoms associated with menopause to hopefully make a woman’s transition more bearable. Although it was successful for many patients, far too many developed conditions that were later found to be associated with their participation in HRT.
