Are You Consuming Salmonella Tainted Eggs?

A number of food poisoning cases involving salmonella tainted eggs are under investigation by the FDA and CDC. The agencies have been searching for potential sources of the tainted eggs. So far, potential sources include Wright County Egg in Iowa and Hillandale Farms of Iowa, Inc.
In late August 2010, Hillandale Farms conducted a voluntary recall due to the possibility of salmonella contamination. A number of these eggs could still be in restaurants, grocery stores or your home. If you feel ill after eating a recalled egg, you should consult with your doctor.
Symptoms of Salmonella Enteritidis
Symptoms may occur after eating a contaminated egg 12 to 72 hours after consumption. Some of the symptoms associated with salmonella tainted eggs include:

- Abdominal cramps
- Diarrhea
These symptoms will normally last between four to seven days. In some cases, hospitalization may be necessary.

Texas Salmonella Outbreaks
Wright County Egg in Iowa and Hillandale Farms of Iowa, Inc. are not the only two currently under investigation.
